The Snizek Family

Coming from a hard working Polish immigrant family, Fred Snizek had a dream to one day own and operate his own golf course. Leaving the security of his General Electric job in Utica, and recruiting the help of his loving wife Janet, the two set out with their five young boys, to embark on a quest to build a nine-hole golf course from a farmland in Vernon, NY.

The reigns of leadership were passed on to John Snizek, their son, in the 1990's. During his time, he successfully built upon serving the community and honoring his mom (a two-time breast cancer survivor) by establishing "The Golfing for Breast Cancer" charity. In ten years, the charity raised over $100,000 for the Faxton-St. Lukes Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center. John's caring and giving nature epitomized the philosophy of giving back to his community and patrons at the golf course.

After John's tragic and unexpected passing in 2010, the golf course is still deeply rooted in family tradition and values as it is in the care of Fred and Janet's youngest son, Tom, an English teacher and Golf Coach at New Hartford High School. Crystal Springs Golf Course has a mission to bring affordable golf to the area while promoting a comfortable family atmosphere. While continuing his career as an educator, Tom is following in the footsteps of his family by establishing the "Crystal Springs Foundation." This mission of the foundation is to recognize and award Seniors in high school with scholarships to be used to further their educational prowess.

Renovations and additions have recently taken place such as adding a kitchen, on course "lodge", driving range, and party pavilion. Our vision is to continue to grow and fulfill the dreams and aspirations envisioned by Fred and Janet of making "The Spa" a great place to play golf and relax with friends in a bucolic, country setting.
